Vista, Intel 915 and Aero
WindowsWell, looks like I've joined the crowd of pissed off PC users that are stuck with the Intel 915GM chipset. With a fairly new high end laptop, less than 12 months old, bought with the promise (at the time of purchase) of being “vista ready”, I now can’t use all I have installed. I don’t get Aero, Movie Maker & DVD Maker. So much for being ready! Even if I can’t get Aero to work, no one ever told me that apps like Movie Maker, which worked fine on the laptop with XP, now will no longer work.

Microsoft To Provide IE Patches for Windows XP Only
WindowsAs this slashdot article points out, there might soon be no more updates to IE, Unless of course you feel like paying to upgrade to XP first.

So unless you feel like paying for the priviledge, more reason than ever to change to Mozilla Firefox.

And those that are still concerned about have IE on your machine and being potentially vulnerable, I have found IE remover. I Haven't tried it yet, but would welcome any feedback on it.
As always, be careful and make sure you have a good backup before you make any changes.

Cheers,
Tom
